Residents living in Poole have voiced strong opposition to plans that would allow a local venue to extend its opening hours and host late-night musical entertainment.

The venue is located at the DrgnFly, the Pan-Asian restaurant and bar at 1 Bournemouth Road, Poole, BH14 0EG, in Ashley Cross.

The matter was formally brought before a sitting of the council’s licensing committee, where local authority panel members gathered to examine the venue's application in detail. The proposal submitted to the council seeks official permission to grant extended operational hours along with provision for late-night music at the Poole premises.

Neighbours residing in the surrounding area presented their objections directly to the committee panel during the meeting, warning that approving the requested extensions would lead to an increase in noise pollution and general neighbourhood disturbance. Community members expressed serious concerns over the prospective impact on their living conditions, emphasizing that local households would face ongoing disruption if the premises were permitted to remain open deeper into the night.

During the representations, objectors urged the licensing committee to consider the overall well-being of the surrounding residential area, cautioning panel members that residents would suffer significantly from the effects of late-night noise if the venue’s proposed operating schedule were granted as submitted.

Members of the council licensing committee recorded the community's objections alongside the specific terms outlined in the venue's application. The panel will now deliberate on the information provided before deciding whether to approve the venue's request for extended hours and music, apply additional restrictions to the licence, or reject the proposed extensions altogether.
