Following a detailed investigation by officers, a burglar who was identified by CCTV and a glove he left at the scene has been jailed.

Nicholas Anthony Robinson, aged 42 of Poole, stole items from a car, home and business, and fraudulently used stolen credit cards to withdraw cash and buy goods.

On Saturday 1 March 2025 between 12.45am and 1am, Robinson stole a number of items from an unattended vehicle in Hartsbourne Drive in Bournemouth, including a wallet, designer sunglasses and two coats. Later that day, Robinson used one of the stolen bank cards from the wallet to purchase mobile phones. He was identified on CCTV.

Between Monday 17 November 2025 and Sunday 23 November 2025, Robinson entered a property in Twynham Avenue in Christchurch while the occupants were away, stealing a laptop, a handbag containing bank cards and keys and a wallet.

An investigation ensued and CCTV enquiries showed Robinson using the stolen bank cards at four different shops with 20 transactions amounting to around £3,300 in total. A glove found at the scene was forensically tested and identified Robinson as a match.

On Thursday 5 March 2026, Robinson entered the Creative Kids Arts Education Centre in the Sovereign Centre in Boscombe and stole the petty cash tin, a charity collection box, headphones, two bags of sensory toys and folders containing till receipts. Robinson was identified on CCTV and subsequently arrested.

He was sentenced to three years in prison at Bournemouth Crown Court on Wednesday 14 October 2026 after previously admitting two charges of burglary and two charges of fraud.

Detective Constable Joanne Regan, of the Neighbourhood Crime Team, said: “We recognise the impact burglaries have on both businesses and residents, and we will thoroughly investigate all crimes of this nature that are reported to us.

“Thanks to our enquiries, we were able to bring Robinson before the courts and ensure justice for the victims of these crimes.”
